I've had a lot of people ask me questions about why I cosplay and what got me started and such, so I thought I would just make a page and say it all, your welcome to email me if you think I need to add anything else to this one, lol. So let's get started.
What got you started cosplaying?
When I was really young and first got into Sailor Moon I would watch it every morning, and quickly grew to love it. Well my grandma can sew, so I asked her if she would help me make a costume, she did, and from there started me on my costume making. But I really don't remember how I got started going to conventions and such, that happened several years after I started making costumes. I think I was searching eBay and I found a locket that said 'great for cosplay' and I didn't know what cosplay was so I looked it up and found out, and there ya go, my conventions begin, lol.
Why do you still cosplay?
Why not? It's fun, and entertains me, it's a great way to get together with your friends and have fun. Also if you make your own costumes then you eventually develop a talent over a period of time. So back to what I said originally, why not?
Don't you think your getting too old to be cosplaying Sailor Moon?
No, of course not. You can never be too old for Sailor Moon. Besides the only thing that's for kids is the Dubbed, edited version, the original uncut Japanese episodes are "16 and Up" as it says on the box, so as far as the box is concerned I'm right at the age I should be.
Why do you cosplay Sailor Moon?
Because it was the first anime I ever saw and I've always liked it, and I thought why not. Besides when I first started cosplaying that was still the only anime I watched, so that was pretty much my only choice, and by the time I found other anime shows I already had like 3 or 4 Sailor Moon costumes, so I decided to go ahead and get them all.
Why do you cosplay the other characters that you do?
It's one of two reasons. Either 1. I watched an anime and had a favorite character that I totaly loved and wanted to cosplay them, or 2. My friends decided to start a cosplay group and wanted me to be in it, so they have me watch the anime, or look at pictures, and pick what character I want to do, or ask me to do a character that they think I would be good as. They have yet to suggest a character that I haven't liked =)
What kind of patterns do you use?
I don't use patterns, never have, and probably never will.
Why does it take you so long to make a costume?
Because I hand sew EVERYTHING, I refuse to use a sewing machine, therefore takes me a lot longer.
Why don't you use a sewing machine?
It's actually kinda weird. I feel more like I did it if I hand sew, and I feel like using a sewing machine is cheating, but only for me, I don't think it's cheating if other people use a sewing machine, it's just a weird feeling I have >_> XDD
